    Galen (Greek: Γαληνός, Galēnos; Latin: Claudius Galenus, Aelius Galenus, Claudius Aelius Galenus, or Aelius Claudius Galenus 129-200 CE of Pergamon (Pergamum) was a prominent Roman physician and philosopher of Greek origin, and probably the most accomplished medical researcher of the Roman period. His theories dominated Western medical science for well over a millennium.
